I hear it allll the time in my discovery and kick off calls: “The team isn’t moving fast enough.”

Cool…

That could mean just about anything.

We have to dive deeper than this, my friends. I don’t believe that our main problem is that we aren’t moving fast enough. Look at Jack in sales, he is on Slack at all hours. Sarah, on the dev team, is shipping new updates and bug fixes daily. There is speed abound.

The real issue is almost always something deeper than this summary.

What I’m actually trying to figure out

I’m not trying to confirm the problem.

I’m trying to understand:

Do you actually know what your team is experiencing day to day?

If you don’t…we’re about to solve the wrong thing. Fast.

(Which I know you love. Moving fast. Breaking things. All that.)

So I start here…

Nothing fancy. Frankly, it might come off as kind of annoying to these fast-moving founders.
